Sleeping Beauty Castle.
IT ALL STARTED WITH A CASTLE
On December 14, 2002, Robert Olszewski's Sleeping Beauty Castle was released. Its wonderful workmanship and exquisite detailing (notice the railings and shrubbery and trees) as well as special features (including a not-so-hidden Mickey at the back of the castle, paintings inside the castle corridors, a rooftop that lifts off to reveal Aurora about to be kissed awake by her Prince, not to mention the pink and blue lighting effect) made this piece irresistible to Disneyland enthusiasts. This was to be the start of a long-term relationship between Olszewski and Disneyland lovers worldwide. The Central Plaza (affectionately known as "the hub") was released a year later, and subsequent pieces have been released two or three times a year since then. The collection first started with Main Street USA. Then, in connection with the celebration of Disneyland's 50th birthday, specific attractions were commissioned. Other attractions and accessories have subsequently been commissioned and/or released. The Disneyland line has proven so popular that the concept has even expanded to the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Olszewski's relationship with Disney continued to flourish with the launch of two new lines in early 2007 - Gallery of Light and Heirloom Boxes - with another line to be unveiled in the fall of 2007. And collecting is not limited to Southern California locals. For a release day, many collectors make a special trip from Northern California and even other states. For those who can't attend a release day in person (including collectors in other countries), they can order the new pieces online.
For many, the castle (whether from its initial release or during its subsequent availability) was what drew them to the collection. For others, a specific attraction (like Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean) was the magnet. Some collect only a few or several specific pieces that they have a particular connection to. Others have the whole collection, including a platform that holds all of Main Street and other custom-made cabinetry to display their entire collection. Others have been drawn in through Gallery of Light or Heirloom Boxes. Others were already aware of Olszewski's talents through his Storytime collection.
No matter the nature of any particular collector, you can hear the enthusiasm wherever Olszewski collectors gather, talking about their favorite piece or their favorite detail and expressing their wish of what they'd like to see produced next.
On this page, you will find links to recommended websites to find out more about the Olszewski collection, a list of past releases starting with July 2005, a list of confirmed and tentative dates for future releases, and a link to updates from each release day since June 2005.

This is the official Disney Gallery website of Robert Olszewski's Disneyland miniature collection. There are separate tabs for information about the existing collection, accessories, upcoming/new releases, a FAQ and an artist bio.
This is the official website of Olszewski Studios. The website is still a work in progress, so new information is being continually added. Be sure to sign up for the mailing list so that you can receive news updates and official announcements, especially since some releases are only through the website and not through Disney, including the Main Street platform, various tree packs, and more to come.
This is the official blog site of Olszewski Studios. The site is managed and moderated by Ray Olszewski, Bob's brother. Pay special attention to the June 25, 2007 entry, which is about the Main Street USA collection.
This is Main Street Miniatures, an unofficial website about the Olszewski Disneyland collection but which is highly endorsed by Olszewski Studios. There is extensive information and pictures about all the pieces and accessories in the collection.
Olszewski Fan Bruce Richards' website. This is a fan-based website run by Bruce Richards, who has, among other things, developed a means by which the Astro Orbiter can be mechanized to spin on the Main Street platform. There's a terrific video on the site showing the spinning Astro Orbiter with the train going by, all on the beautifully lit night-time view of Main Street. Bruce also has suggestions and tips for lots of other modifications, and his website is a wealth of resources and information.
There is no website link available, but for those who have ordered or would still like to try to order the plexiglass cover for the Main Street platform, American Plastics Corporation in Camarillo is the one making the cover. The price is $305, and the cover needs to be picked up during the company's regular business hours at its location in Camarillo. Covers cannot be shipped. The person handling this account is named Armando, and he can be reached at (805) 484-3333. While they are still in the process of fulfilling orders, they may be willing to accept additional orders, but once they have finished, they may or may not be willing to start making covers again. If you want to have a local company make a cover for you, contact Olszewski Studios for spec information on the cover.
